We are a family of 6 with no living room furniture. A couple of couches, a chair, bookcases, side tables, lamps, rugs, etc.

Not sure what your price range is, but have you tried the Salvation Army on 7th street? I head they do have furniture. I have been meaning to go take a look myself.
