You have signed up for broadband (so that you can access the Internet). It arrives at your hub (or router). What then? Well, you can plug in your computer directly to the hub with a cable (but only easily if the two are close by) OR you can use Wi-Fi so that your laptop and phone can also get online from different rooms. What‘s wrong with that? Several things - firstly, Wi-Fi is pretty slow (ever had YouTube ‘buffering’ or slow access to websites?). Secondly the range of Wi-Fi is very limited – and put a couple of room-dividing brick walls into the mix and then you may either loose the connection altogether, or else find that it’s now even slower than ever.
