In my own case, I tend to do “housekeeping” (emails, file management, etc.) on one screen, whilst doing word processing, etc. on the other. Or, you could be running a TV channel on one screen, whilst you simultaneously play games on the other! Most laptops (and many desktops) already have a VGA (2nd monitor) socket, so connection is as simple as just plugging it in!
